A Europe based web hosting company, customers looking for web hosting will have a choice among five shared web hosting packages built to scale. One’s plans aren’t restricted to Europe or UK based customers too, so those looking for an international solution can sign-up as well. Overall, One.com provides customers great versatility across packages and offers customer support in several languages as well, making them one of the better international hosts in the web hosting market.

One.com’s five hosting packages all live in a shared hosting environment, with data centers based in Denmark. As a result, they’re best utilized by customers looking to serve Europe or UK based traffic, and anyone looking for high-performance, dedicated hosting solutions may have to look elsewhere. Customers can appreciate that all plans come with 24/7 customer support, daily backups, and shared SSL certificate as standard.

Plans & Pricing

The first two packages Beginner and Explorer are best for small businesses or individuals looking to create a basic website or blog. The Beginner plan can be purchased at $2.49 per month and renews at $4.99 per month. It includes 50 GB of storage, 512MB RAM, one MariaDB database, and up to 100 email accounts as the main features. Both plans are below the average market price for shared hosting and are a highly economical solution for those just starting.

Surprisingly, you aren’t given access One.coms suite of WordPress tools on this plan. Such as the one-click installer or one-click site migration. Despite this, 50 GB of storage is a lot for a single site, especially at this price point. Plus, you can always install WordPress to your site manually, which is an easy task that requires minimal technical skills.

The Explorer plan doubles these included resources, now allowing up to five databases and access to One’s WordPress suite. If you’re looking to run a small eCommerce website or medium-sized blog, this would be the better plan to start on.

As for Enthusiast, at $5.49 per month for your first term, and $10.99 per month after that. It includes 200 GB storage, support for up to 500 email accounts, five hosted websites, and ten databases. Enthusiast provides an ideal amount of resources for small businesses looking to host a few client sites or even a medium-sized eCommerce site.

Furthermore, the Explorer and Enthusiast plans also come with twice the CPU priority as the Beginner plan. In other words, these subscriptions will have higher hosting priority and resources. For developers, you do get SSH access on this plan as well.

Price-wise, the Enthusiast plan offers many more resources than most packages on the market. Especially considering it’s at a price point that most providers offer their entry-level packages on. Some plans on the market that include ‘Unlimited’ storage resources might beat this, though they do have database and usage limitations of their own as well.

As for the Expert plan, it can be purchased for $7.49 per month ($14.99 on renewal) and comes with 500 GB of storage, 4GB ram, up to 750 email accounts, and 4x CPU priority. With additional premium features included as well, this plan is suitable for larger WordPress sites, web applications or online stores.

Finally, the Guru plan, priced at $9.99 per month discounted and $19.99 per month upon renewal, this plan is best used by those who can take advantage of the ten supported domains included with the package. Including 750 GB of storage, 8x CPU priority, 20 databases, and up to 1000 supported email accounts. Customers on this plan will be able to comfortably host and maintain multiple small to medium-sized business or WordPress websites, before having to upgrade to a dedicated solution. What’s more, at a price point of $19.99 renewal, the plan provides a lot more value for money than other hosts in the market. While most competitor packages generally offer an ‘Unlimited’ resource limit on storage, true gurus will better appreciate the usage amount they’ll get from One’s Guru plan.

Additional Features & Benefits

Staging Environments on all plans
Even better, the plans also get access to a staging environment. This feature essentially clones your website and allows you to try out new changes or update before rolling the changes over to the live version. If you’re working with developers, this is a feature that makes their lives a lot easier and is a great way to test things out without risking the fidelity and security of your main business.

‘Unlimited’ Traffic
Every plan offered by One.com allows for unlimited traffic. Keep in mind that, as a shared hosting service, you will have your resources throttled if your website takes too much from other prescribers. In this way, it’s ‘unlimited’, but only within reason: a staple practice for shared hosting providers across the Internet.

Free Domain for the first year
All One.com hosting plans give you access to a free domain for the first year of your subscription. This is industry-standard but still welcome, as there are a few hosting providers who don’t include it in their plans.

Free Website Builder
All the plans also benefit from the phenomenal website builder. This is a perfect alternative to hiring a web developer, which can be quite costly open terms of coding time and aesthetic crafting. The website builder included with One.com allows you to drag-and-drop different website elements onto your new site for up to five pages.

This five-page limit is a little small for more optimistic online businesses, but it’s perfectly suitable for smaller blogs for hobbyist websites. Considering that you want to focus on dedicated WordPress hosting for anything more serious, we think the website builder is a decent addition for beginners – especially since it’s free.

Free Shared SSL Certificate
You’ll also get a “Let’s Encrypt’ SSL certificate with every plan offered from One.com. SSL’s should be considered a necessity for your website, as they guarantee both the safety of your website and any user data you collect. ‘Let’s Encrypt’ SSL’s are the standard, free Wildcard SSL certificate offered industry-wide and are best used by small business sites or blogs. For more protection, One also offers Extended Validation Certificates for companies.

SEO Optimization
Optional SEO Optimizers are available for purchase as well. These are great if you want your website to rank highly on Google. You’ll also get an additional 75 Google Ads credits, which can be used to advertise your site across Google’s search results. It’s a small touch, but a great piece of added value for business customers.

Top Features

Scalable Plans

Inclusive, affordable plans that can grow with your business.

Competitive Pricing

Both discount and renewal rates for One’s plans are lower than most hosts on the market.

SSH Access

Higher tiered plans will have SSH access, providing more control over your hosting.

24/7 Live Chat Support

All customers have access to One’s 24/7 Live Chat, which also supports 6 Languages.

Security

Most of One.com’s website security is handled through SiteLock. They do offer 24/7 monitoring by their customer service team, which alerts you via email if there’s a potential security issue that might affect your website.

SiteLock comes as either an optional or included feature for your plan, depending on price. It consists of a virus and malware firewall, as well as a scanner you can manually initiate or set on a schedule to cleanse your site of potential bugs or security threats regularly. The Health Monitor feature works a lot like a security tutorial bot, informing you of any possible problems and proposing solutions. It’s a better feature for beginners, but it’s suitable for everyone on some level.

You’ll also benefit from automatic backups, which have in daily for every plan regardless of price. However, the Enthusiast, Expert, and Guru plans all have an additional restore feature that lets you roll back your website to a previous version relatively quickly and easily. Thus, these are a great choice if you ever need to get your site back up and running quickly to serve your customers or visitors.

Domain Locking is also available for both of the latter WordPress hosting options. Domain locking is a necessary security setting that stops any unauthorized attempts to transfer your domain to a different registrar. This kind of hacker attack or threat is relatively rare, but it might be a serious issue if you have a popular or highly contested domain name in your possession. It’s a nice feature because you can still change other information about your domain, like your contact information, without unlocking the domain and exposing it to theft.

Overall, One.com’s security features are pretty standard, and you get some significant elements as standard, like the SSL certification. While it would be nice to include SiteLock for all the plans, the basic plans are so cheap that we can’t begrudge them this minor point.

Customer Support Review

One.com is based in Europe and operates in almost 150 countries. This requires their customer support team to be versatile and adaptable, and they are fluent in several languages as a result. Meaning you’ll have a better time working with their customer service specialist if you speak a language other than English as opposed to many other hosting providers.

They offer 24/7 support via phone and email. Both promise to respond to your queries or problems within 24 hours, but they also have a live chat function you can take advantage of. These are typically available during regular business hours relative to the language in which you want to chat; for instance, French speakers will get live chat responses during business hours in France. They offer 24/7/365 live chat support for any speakers of English.

The primary benefit of One.com’s customer service is their language flexibility. But they also offer an extensive knowledge base that has a whole host of guides and tutorials which might be able to help you figure out any technical difficulties you encounter.

They aren’t quite as knowledgeable or technically proficient in some of the finer details of WordPress hosting. This is likely because their “WordPress hosting” options are just extensions of their basic shared hosting plans with additional WordPress specific features.

Still, their customer service, in general, is pretty stellar, and you shouldn’t have to wait long for answers to even small questions. Customer service representatives are typically friendly and responsive. They are willing to work with you across several channels of communication, like going from chat to email and back to handle your problems.

They even have several kinds of unofficial documentation available to help you manually install specific add-ons or e-commerce plug-ins.
