Accuwebs shared hosting plans are more flexible than most, offering customers a choice between Linux and Windows shared hosting plans, with either SSD or Cloud storage. Regardless of which hosting plan you pick, each subscription is meant to have scalable resources and extra add-ons/solutions for low prices. In fact, pricing is a big part of the value of Accuweb Hosting. They include lots of top-tier hardware and 100% hardware uptime guarantees for low asking prices, especially compared to many other hosting providers. We also really like that you get 15% of the first subscription term off; it’s automatically applied at checkout. This is reflected in the low advertised prices on their page.

Accuweb Shared SSD Vs. Shared Cloud Servers

Another advantage over its competitors, Accuweb provides both traditional shared and public cloud server hosting. For those hosting basic static sites with minimal traffic, the shared SSD plans would be the most economical and are slightly cheaper than their cloud alternative. For businesses, public cloud servers would be the best option, ensuring higher levels of security, scalability, and overall performance.

It’s most notable benefits over Shared SSD hosting, Cloud plans are better able to handle massive traffic spikes through auto-scaling. Essentially, your site(s) resources can be increased on-demand, as required.

shared vs cloud web hosting

We’d be remiss to mention that those on shared SSD plans won’t be missing the scalability found on the cloud alternative. In fact, Accuweb offers customers a range of add-ons that allow for increased storage, bandwidth, and dedicated IP’s for a low monthly price. This is a feature you’ll rarely find with other hosts, with most sticking to tiered pricing/resource structures, and is a level of flexibility many customers with growing sites will appreciate.

SSD Servers

As the names suggest, Accuweb’s shared plans provide a great platform for Personal, Small Business, and Enterprise solutions. Typically included features such as a free SSL through cPanel, an abundance of email accounts, a free website builder, and 24/7/365 customer support ensures those new to hosting have all the tools to get started. However, where Accuweb stands out are through features such as unlimited databases and sites on all plans, options for Windows OS, global data centers, and free domain registration on signup.

Unlike other hosts, Accuwebs promise of unlimited databases and sites is truly unlimited. In large part, this is due to each plan having an allocated amount of disk space. Typically, host’s that offer ‘unlimited’ disk space have hidden terms that can restrict database size and counts. In terms of Inode limits, all Linux shared hosting accounts are capped at 250,000 inodes. This is the standard cap across the market, you’ll only find a small handful of hosts that offer upwards of 300,000 inodes per account.

Performance-wise, Accuwebs Linux plans are built on great infrastructure. Other than pure SSD drives, server performance is optimized through the use of CloudLinux OS and LiteSpeed. In short, this combination of OS and server software Accuwebs SSD plans a great solution for high traffic, high content sites. Most competitors shared hosting plans utilize Apache or Ngnix, which are both blown out of the water in comparison to LiteSpeed when it comes to processing server requests/packages.

Accuweb also offers a WordPress option, which comes with near-identical features to the standard SSD plans. Except, all plans come with WordPress and Yoast SEO plugin pre-installed. What Accuweb do slightly differently with their WordPress plans is that they don’t have blacklisted plugins. Some hosts have these lists to ensure optimal site and server security for their customers, not allowing the installation of select plugins that are known to cause security threats to sites.

WordPress Performance, LiteSpeed vs. Nginx vs. Apache

On top of this, Accuweb also offers customers a choice of eight data centers, each located across all the major continents. Meaning you’ll be able to choose the server closest to your target audience, further improving site performance and lessening your reliance on a CDN – which can increase your overall cost on hosting.

Shared Cloud Hosting

As we mentioned before, Accuwebs shared Cloud provides both an optimal platform and an economical solution for businesses with high traffic websites. Such as eCommerce stores or blogs with an active monthly user base. With Accuwebs shared cloud hosting, you’ll get all the same great features as the shared SSD plans, including free site migration, data center options, and Windows OS options. Like the SSD plans, Cloud also utilized cPanel which those with an existing hosting plan may already be accustomed to.

Pricing

One of the major draw points customers will find with Accuweb is their extremely low price point for web hosting, across all plans. Comparing renewal rates to other hosts on the market, Accuweb comes out as one of the cheapest options you can find. When you factor in the 15% discount for new customers, they easily become one of the best value for money options on the market.

accuweb shared web hosting yearly price average

The best part, there are no major caveats or drawbacks with their plans. All plans are highly scalable and include an adequate amount of resources and features for most business cases. Plus, all plans are devoid of the typical sales and pricing strategies to draw in unsuspecting customers, such as extremely low new customer discounts that double or triple in price at renewal, or pre-selected add-ons at checkout that customers might miss. This level of transparency with Accuwebs products and service, we feel, is something most customers will appreciate.

On top of this, all plans even come with a bunch of freebies that some hosts usually make you pay extra for. Such as free domain registration, free daily automatic backups, and free website migration for new customers. Overall, it’s extremely hard not to recommend Accuwebs shared hosting platform. To start, they’re one of the lowest-priced plans on the market and provide great value for money. Plans are highly scalable and come with all the essential features for most business cases.

Accuweb’s Reseller hosting services are offered across a range of server environments to best suit your business needs, having servers ranging from Linux SSD solutions right up to Windows VPS. Across the board, customers will appreciate the scalability of plans and decent levels of resource allocation per tier, all at a comparatively fair price point.

Resources

To start, Linux SSD plans utilize cPanel as standard and provide the same included server features across plans. Essential features like Email and FTP accounts, sub-domains, and MySQL databases are ‘all ‘unlimited.’ Meaning that you’ll only be paying for more storage and bandwidth allocation as you move up the tiers.

Resource wise, Accuweb starts customers on 30 GB SSD Storage for the Bronze plan, reaching up to 200 GB on Platinum. Across the higher-tiered plans, this level of included storage was inline with other plans on the market at a similar or sometimes more expensive price point. You also get up to 100 cPanel accounts, depending on the plan you choose. However, we did find that most hosts entry-level reseller plans start customers on anywhere between 10 to 40 cPanel accounts as standard.

For client management, all plans include access to WHM and WHMCS. This gives your business the ability to provide individual cPanel accounts for each client. Plus, as a fully white-label service, Accuweb also provides you the customization to ensure your own branding is shown frontend.

Hardware and Performance

Accuweb’s reseller hardware is decent, to say the least. While they don’t include a premium CDN subscription like some other hosts ($3.95 as an add-on at checkout), customers will benefit from the fact they have servers spread across eight locations globally: two in the US, and one each in the UK, EU, Asia, Australia, and South Africa.

You can also expect Accuweb to never oversell their servers and update server hardware regularly…which should be expected from any good hosting provider. The only downside one might draw from Accuweb’s reseller plans is that they only offer Windows VPS hosting, limiting Linux users to SSD servers with no mention of access to a Cloud/VPS reseller solution. Furthermore, it’s also good to know that the advertised LiteSpeed server software is only on their single server in Colorado USA. All other servers globally utilize Apache along with Nginx, and won’t experience the same speed benefits seen on servers with LiteSpeed.

Pricing

Accuweb’s plans range from $8.99 to $81.99 per month for each tier of service and include a 5% discount for your first subscription term. While this discount is quite humble and doesn’t scream at you like other hosting providers offerings, we’ve found that even without the discount Accuweb’s price point across all Reseller hosting plans are about the industry average. Meaning that you really get what you pay for with this provider. Simple as that. You can also expect greater discounts the longer you opt-in for your initial term, getting essentially six months of free hosting if you opt-in for a one-year subscription over the six or three months options.

Security

Accuweb’s reseller plans include all the necessary security features you’d expect on a shared hosting platform. To start, SpamExperts mailbox filtering service is included with all the plans, which works by removing any spam or malicious emails from all of your accounts.

Additionally, Cloudflare CDN is included free at check out. A standard inclusion from most hosts as it is a freemium service, but still a great service nonetheless. The performance benefits you’ll look to gain with Cloudflare CDN also opens you up to managing clients globally if desired. However, you may want to opt for a premium Cloudflare subscription if you plan to do so. Finally, as you might expect, Accuweb offers premium SSLs at an additional yearly price; however, Let’s Encrypt SSL are also supported and would suffice for most non-eCommerce business sites.

Customer Support

Accuweb offers premium customer support for all of their reseller subscribers, including support via phone, live chat, and email avenues. These options are standard across competing services and are an essential service when managing other business websites.

In general, you can expect customer support responses within a few minutes for live chat and phone, though the latter is somewhat limited to local business hours. Additionally, phone support is only meant to be used for billing or sales related inquiries or any emergency technical issues. This is great for reseller customers as you’ll find the lines to be rarely clogged up with only essential issues being managed via phone support. Email is decently responsive, but you’ll likely find yourself using live chat more often.

Moreover, in their service agreement, Accuweb promises a 99.9% server uptime rate or your money back. They’ll credit your account up to five days of charges for service, depending on how low the uptime reached that month. Note that this offer does not extend to any downtime that’s caused by yourself or third parties, which is useful to know as well.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, Accuweb is a solid, reseller web hosting choice. They offer fantastic scalability across all their plans and include several top-tier features and add-on options that many will take advantage of. That being said, they aren’t especially transparent with their server hardware and resources. They do promise not to oversell server space, which is a big plus in the reseller sphere. But some customers may still be put off when they can’t tell exactly what resources or hardware they have control over with a plan. Still, Accuweb’s reseller plans are a great choice for those looking for reliable Reseller hosting at a fair price.

Accuweb offers both Windows and Linux VPS hosting solutions. By and large, these are excellent if you want to run a medium-large sized site or business with plenty of users and lots of extra space to handle any sudden traffic upticks you might experience. It’s also great for resellers looking to host multiple client websites or host software applications and gaming servers.

In the end, there’s a wide variety of things you can use Accuweb’s VPS packages for. The extra control and scalable resources mean that your websites are ultimately more under your control and provide more raw benefits compared to other hosting options if you’re not making a WordPress site.

Accuweb VPS hosting products
Accuweb VPS hosting products

There are three broad VPS environments or subscriptions offered by Accuweb; each has specific benefits we’ll go over shortly. These VPS types are VPS Hosting SSD, Hosting Cloud, and Hosting Classic. All three plans have global data center options, which is a standard offering across the industry, allowing you to select which server you want your site(s) to be hosted on.

Furthermore, each of the main plans includes almost identical resources regardless of whether you choose the Windows or Linux OS option. The biggest exception here is that Windows plans have about double the storage capacity of the Linux plans. This is likely to make up for the storage space taken by Windows OS and its associated suite of tools.

Server Configuration

One of the biggest draws to Accuweb for customers is that they offer more server configuration and customization options than most competitors. For starters, all of the plans allow you to pick your operating system, which includes lesser-known varieties like Debian or Ubuntu. What’s more, their Denver Data Center plans are fully configurable, allowing you to add on different anti-spam options or additional benefits like SSL certification right at check out. This is a nice setup as it allows you to only pay for what you’ll really need for your website.

Softaculous is available as a paid add-on, though some hosting providers give it to you for free. Another great add-on is Load Balancer, which is perfect if you plan on having a high-traffic website: this starts at $30 per month. However, remember that the base resources in terms of things like RAM or CPU are the same across data centers.

Other data centers beyond Denver only allow you to configure your operating system or control panel. These data centers allow a little less configuration at checkout, but they’re still competitive options compared to other subscriptions in the hosting service industry.

Each VPS plan also includes the initial setup of your virtual machine in the subscription price, though be advised that it’ll likely take between 7 to 8 hours regardless of the data center you choose and your configuration. Still, this setup includes booting up the operating system and any additional applications you included with your purchase. It’s very user-friendly, we have to say. Initial troubleshooting is also available, so there aren’t any speed bumps as you are trying to get up and running, which is a great customer care feature most will appreciate.

After purchasing, you can change your plans or purchase additional resources through your client area via a support ticket. Most VPS hosting providers follow the same format, although some will let you pick upgrades without having to go through customer support first.

Still, Accuweb’s VPS packages offer more Control Panel options than most other competitors. The downside to this aspect is that there isn’t a default control panel included with your purchase: not even cPanel! This means you have to pay an additional small fee to just use a VPS control panel. This is a significant negative in our eyes.

If you want to use your VPS package to resell hosting space/resources, some of the control panels mentioned above may come with account limits. For instance, cPanel only lets you set up five accounts in total, and might limit your revenue potential if your ideal setup requires one account per client.

Like most hosting providers, Accuweb too promises to provide a consistent 99% server uptime. They also provide a seven-day money-back guarantee and allow you to cancel your contract at any time, which is a good sign to us; some hosting providers don’t let you cancel. As mentioned before, with the reseller plans, AccuWebHosting credits you up to five days worth of hosting charges if servers go down at their own fault.

Dedicated Hosting Review

Best for: High traffic sites, maximum resources & security

Overview

Dedicated hosting gives you the full benefit of the resources from a single server for your website(s), allowing for much better scalability and control compared to the other hosting types. Most of Accuweb’s dedicated hosting plans are inclusive, as is expected across the industry, given the higher asking prices for these hosting packages. They offer global data centers stretching from the United States to Germany to India. Remarkably, all of AccuWebHosting are built in-house, which gives their clients additional server configuration compared to most other hosting providers.

Server Configuration

All in all, Accuweb provides over 1,000 configuration options to choose from across their global data centers. By far, this amount blows the dedicated server offerings from other providers out of the water. While more isn’t necessarily better, we can say that Accuweb’s plans are highly inclusive, support a range of budgets, and are worth consideration.

To start, Accuweb allows full server configuration at checkout. This includes add-ons, features, and some resource options. While CPU and RAM won’t have alternate configuration options at checkout, this is where Accuweb’s wide range of preset configurations come in-handy as they aim to cater to all business cases.

Furthermore, Accuweb makes it easy to compare the various servers and their locations too, the overall user interface is smooth, intuitive and allows you to have side-by-side comparisons of the servers interested in.

Regardless of the server you choose, each comes features you’ll want and expect, such as a dedicated IP address, unmetered bandwidth, and full root access. In addition, most of the servers come with up to four drive slots along with customizable RAID levels, plus free anti-DDoS protection and SoftRaid. All servers also get a single external network port between 250 MB and 1 GB.

Complementary 500 GB of storage for your server backup is also included with the majority of these server options. Double-check to see what your server provides before finalizing a purchase to get the most value from your pick.

You can also add on extra things like hardware firewalls or other antivirus applications. The Load Balancer add-on we mentioned with the VPS plans returns here as well, and we’d recommend it if you want to prioritize high traffic upticks or want to grow your business. All in all, the sheer variety of add-ons is positive since it lets you customize your purchase and server exactly as you need it. Each server takes about 48 hours to 72 hours to set up completely. If you have a particularly custom configuration, it may take a little longer.

Pricing

Accuweb’s dedicated server hosting features flexible billing cycles compared to most other providers. They start at $90 per month but remember that you’ll need to tally up your real monthly cost when you consider additional applications and antivirus defenses. Thus, you could theoretically get a very affordable dedicated server option from Accuweb or one of the most expensive on the web, depending on how much you add on.

We should mention that you need to pay for your control panel for an additional cost, with a single exception of Windows SolidCP. Again, this is a minor downside. We would still rate their pricing scheme positively, as extra control and price transparency are always excellent points that we’d like to see from other providers.

Accuweb Average Yearly Renewal Rates, Dedicated Hosting

Customer Support

The majority of the dedicated hosting plans from Accuweb are self-managed. However, you can get fully managed support as they offer for VPS plans with an additional $90 per month. In a nutshell, this gives you automatic installation of operating system updates and security patches, regular server patching to protect you from viruses and other issues, content injection, and much more. Again, it’s a great option if you want to be relatively hands-off with your server or need to run multiple servers at the same time and have a little extra cash to spend.

They also provide you with free migration support for the first three hours upon purchasing your plan. Any setup time beyond this comes at a reasonable rate of $30 per hour. For whatever reason, there’s no money-back guarantee for the dedicated server plans.

Final Thoughts

In the end, we’d rate Accuweb’s dedicated hosting options pretty highly. They offer extra customizability and plan flexibility, making them particularly suitable for those who know exactly what they want out of a dedicated hosting experience. Their pricing scheme is also incredibly fair (even with the control panel bit), as you get to choose what you pay for.

Accuweb Server Performance

Average Review Score
★★★★★
★★★★★

To test Accuweb’s hosting performance we used a few Pingdom reports. Over the span of a year, Pingdom’s probes (located across North America) performed daily checks, on a basic website (less than 100KBs) hosted on Accuweb’s shared server environment. Additionally, there was no throttling added to these checks, so slower response times can be expected for 3G or 4G connections.

Yearly Server Performance:

  • Average Uptime

    100.00%

  • Average Response Time

    0.00ms

  • Monthly Downtime

    No Downtime

Data shown as monthly Uptime averages for a basic Godaady website

Server performance can affect all aspects of your site. Case studies have consistently found that customer wait times (page load and response times) directly affect everything from SEM, revenue, and traffic growth. By a lot too, here’s just one example:

For Mobify, every 100ms decrease in homepage load speed worked out to a 1.11% increase in session-based conversion, yielding an average annual revenue increase of nearly $380,000.

Security

Security is a bit of a complicated subject for Accuweb. The exact server offerings depend on the type of hosting the purchase. However, Accuweb does provide several server firewalls to keep your websites protected across their hosting packages in general. VPS and dedicated server packages usually require you to take more active charge over your antivirus efforts, of course.

Anyone can pick up Cloudflare CDN, which provides you with increased security and data speed in the same add-on. We’d recommend this for most plans unless you have an alternative, as it both increases the agility of your websites and keeps them safer for your customers. This add-on is only $3.95 per month. Combined with Cloudflare and the server-specific firewalls, Accuweb’s security is about average compared to other providers on the market.

They also offer 256 bit SSL certificates for purchase. While some of their plans come with free SSL certification as a bonus, you may need to pick up a new one for your VPS, or dedicated server plans to protect your website and give your customers peace of mind. These are $49 per year, which is about what you can expect compared to other providers’ costs.

SpamExperts is another add-on you can find a check out that we highly recommend. This protects you from the worst of spam and will be invaluable if you have a high-traffic website like the kind that are typically targeted by spamming bots and phishers. It’s only $5.85 per quarter.

All in all, we’re satisfied with what Accuweb provides in terms of security across the board. Some hosting solutions give you more security benefits and advantages right off the bat, but at least you’re always able to get the security you need, even if you have to pay extra through an add-on with certain hosting subscriptions.

Customer Support Review

Accuweb has two dedicated customer support teams: one is based in Asia and the other in the US. This includes phone support during typical business hours, although you can sometimes get rerouted to the other customer support team if your hemisphere is mostly asleep, and you need a problem taken care of ASAP.

As mentioned before, their knowledge base is a great place to find various simple solutions to difficult problems like server reboots or setting up your operating system or control panel. Troubleshooting guides are on hand at this resource, which is a great thing for beginners to web hosting and general. This knowledge base is something that virtually every other hosting provider also includes, but it’s nice to see that Accuweb doesn’t exclude it for some random reason.

Additionally, any of their customers can take advantage of their live chat resources. We found that the wait times are a little longer compared to other companies’ chat teams. You’ll probably have to wait between 5 and 10 minutes to be connected with a real person rather than a bot. Still, this wait time isn’t too bad, and you get excellent technical support in exchange.

You should find that the customer service specialists know exactly what they’re talking about most times and can help you with even the more niche problems. Of course, if you pick up a managed WordPress, VPS, or dedicated hosting plans, you’ll get even better customer service and technical support for any problems you may experience.

Accuweb offers everyone Ticket Support and a Help Desk that can both be accessed via your client area. This gives you relatively rapid responses for quick questions if you need something fixed while you’re tinkering with your site.

Finally, we’d repeat that you get free migration to transfer your website from your current hosting provider. It applies to anyone who picks up any of the Windows or Linux Shared, Reseller, Cloud, or VPS hosting plans displayed on the homepage. Double-check that your plan qualifies for this offer and take advantage of it!
